一、父、 子、 聖靈 (三位一體的)上帝， 為彰顯自己的永能、 智慧與良善的榮耀， 就樂意在起初、 從 「無有」中創造世界， 並其中一切有形無形之物， 以六日做成， 並都甚好。
It pleased God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (a), for the manifestation of the glory of his eternal power, wisdom, and goodness (b), in the beginning, to create – or make out of nothing – the world and everything in it, whether visible or invisible, in the space of six days, and all very good (c).
二、上帝造了一切其他被造物之後，就造了人，造男造女；他們擁有理性的與不朽的靈魂；又本著自己的形像賦與他們知識、仁義和真聖潔，有上帝的律法寫在他們的心裡，且有履行律法的能力。然而人處於有可能干犯律法的狀態中，上帝也讓他們按著自己的意志行事；所以這意志是會改變的。除了這在他們心中所寫下的律法以外， 他 們 還 領 受 「 不 可 吃 分別 善惡 樹上的 果子」 的命令；他們遵守這命令時，就能享受與上帝相交，以此為樂 ［修譯：就能享受與神相交的福樂］，又能統治被造之物。
After God had made everything else, he created mankind. He made them male and female (d), with rational and immortal souls (e), endowed with knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness, after his own image (f). They had the law of God written in their hearts (g) and had the power to fulfill it (h). They were, however, under a possibility of transgressing, being left to the liberty of their own will, which was subject to change (i). In addition to this law written in their hearts, they received a command not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (k). As long as they obeyed this command, they were happy in their communion with God and had dominion over the creatures (l).
